Little Paradise is a world where everything is cyanotype blue: a giant fish swimming through a dark fabric sea, the jewelled inside of a pomegranate, and a car park in South Bristol. Two friends and Bristol-based artists, Olive Hag and Steph Garratt, make work inspired by ritual culture, contemporary folk celebrations, found objects and imaginary friends.
Hag works across a few different mediums, primarily using paints and ceramics. Garratt is a textile artist who explores a range of hand and machine embroidery techniques. Together they celebrate the beauty and whimsy within everyday moments, objects and emotions and create lots of little paradises that they want to share.
You are invited to look for the details, embellishments and secrets hidden within this collection of artefacts. To touch (carefully) the stitches and surfaces. To open altarpiece doors and discover creatures that live in painted forests. Think of the objects in your life that hold special significance and cherish the memories that they evoke.
Music and performances by Acopla, Heaps Morris and Olive Hag will take place on the opening night. BYOB.
