WTF? Who’s The Future? presents a body of interactive and speculative artworks by futurist writer and artist Kate Rymagali, exploring questions about the human future through the lens of the present. The exhibition places artworks that comment on today into imagined future contexts, presenting scenarios that inspire, challenge, and provoke reflection.
At the centre of the exhibition is All About You, a large semi-immersive interactive artwork that responds to viewers’ brainwaves, movement, and facial expressions. This piece is a first of its kind in terms of both scale and the number of human signals it responds to. Audiences can choose to watch a demonstration or interact directly with the work themselves.
Alongside All About You, Rymagali presents earlier works and shares the stories behind them — including her background in human–machine interaction and neuroergonomics, and her experiences photographing the 2011 Manchester riot. Satirical speculative fiction informs her practice, with each work examining the conundrums and possibilities surrounding the future of humanness.
