WTF? Who’s The Future? Kate asks questions about our human future through the lens of the now. She does this by placing artworks that comment on today into a future context and presents viewers with scenarios that aim to challenge and inspire.
The exhibition’s main piece is a semi-immersive, interactive artwork titled All About You. The art changes in response to viewers’ brainwaves, movement, and facial expressions. It will be a first of its kind in terms of the number of human signals it responds to at scale. Visitors can choose to watch a demonstration or try out the artwork themselves.
Alongside her visual practice, Kate writes satirical speculative fiction, where she asks questions of the future of humanness; it is an exploration that has influenced her art.
In the exhibition, Kate shares the stories behind her work, including her background in human–machine interaction and neuroergonomics, which underpin her interactive art.
