Pod Farlow: Sculpture and Print centres around the sculptural transformation of the industrial object and the notion of disconnection from functional reality.
Farlow’s sculptures are abstract, 3D compositional ‘actions’. Found agricultural & industrial objects are utilised to affect a compositional event. With the wall-mounted pieces, space is established within a steel framework. When lit, a Doppler effect is achieved, creating an extra liminal dimension for the viewer.
The accompanying original prints are extrapolations of the same process rendered in 2D, using a basic printing press & inked metal objects. Selected compositions have then been digitised & ‘mutated’, and subsequently printed onto aluminium panels. Farlow harnesses the automatic creative process and delves into the psyche of objects, resulting in a kind of Rorschach effect in 3D.
Tank&Drum Co. conduct audio research utilising non-musical industrial functional objects to produce a primal, uncanny & arresting sound palette. The process is ‘Instrument-led’ & improvisational in nature; T&D Co. are at present Pod Farlow & Si Crompton.
