Faces/Spaces #6

  • Centrespace Gallery & Studios 6 Leonard Lane Bristol, England, BS1 1EA United Kingdom (map)

Faces/Spaces #6 is the sixth annual joint exhibition by collage artist Kelvin Jenkins and ceramicist Rose Pettit.

For the past year, Rose Pettit has found herself drawn to ‘making animals of the sea and air’, using a play on words ending in “fish”. All of her work is hand-built using stoneware clay and glazes. She remarks that ‘these pieces are meant to amuse and make others smile’.

Kelvin Jenkins, staying true to the recycling ethos of collage, has been improvising with non-representational collage, using cut-offs from previous works as a starting point and seeing where it leads. ‘This process can take my visual language in unexpected directions, which I then work with to complete the picture.’
