Exhibition Description:
“Body before mind, cup before water.” -Moniaristw
Containment examines how our lives are shaped by limits—physical, social, emotional, and psychological. From the walls of our homes to the schedules of our work, the boundaries in our relationships, and gender and heteronormative expectations, containment structures our daily experience.
Artists Rosalind Brooks, Serafina Kiszko, and Danni Heath respond to these constraints with playful, interactive, and thought-provoking works. Drawing on their experiences as queer, neurodivergent, and crip artists, they explore the resistance and liberation that come from navigating spaces that are too small, too porous, or too rigid. Through their practice, everyday containers are reimagined and repurposed, reflecting the pressures and possibilities of fitting into a world that expects conformity.
Interactive elements include a clothes swap-visitors are invited to bring an item to exchange during the exhibition.
