Studio 7 Music Repairs

Richard of Studio 7 Music Repairs has been repairing musical instruments since 1975. Starting out in a small workshop in the North of England, they’ve gradually made their way down the country to Bristol, where they’ve been for 22 years, eventually settling in Centrespace and latterly opening a shop in St Nicholas Market in Bristol, where they’ve been since 2017.

Specialising in wind instruments from cornets to oboes, they are one of the only workshops in the UK that people can actually visit and walk past, watching the repairers as they work. Over the years, they’ve seen a number of talented repairers enter through the doors, and trained many more. In 2018 they were joined by woodwind specialist Tegan. The workshop has seen many different forms in its lifetime and is constantly growing to be the best that it can be. They’ve formed partnerships with surrounding schools and youth music services to promote music amongst the younger generation and encourage more young people to learn to play instruments – potentially even creating the next generation of instrument repairers.
