Bristol Remix presents a new body of photographic work by Bristol-based artist Bub (Bubimages), examining how digital intervention can destabilise, re-script, and re-stage the city as image.
Originating from on-location portrait sessions across Bristol, the works undergo a process of deliberate colour-channel manipulation. This technical interference fractures the photograph’s surface, generating unexpected chromatic shifts, doubled outlines, and altered spatial relationships. Figures begin to read as graphic forms; environments slide toward the illustrated and the hyper-real.
Rather than simply embellishing the document, Bub treats digital distortion as a compositional tool, a way of testing how far the image can be pushed before it becomes something else. The resulting works hover between portrait, performance, and visual fiction, proposing Bristol as a site continually remade through representation.
