Karen Painter is a mixed media artist based in Bristol. 

Following a career as a graphic designer, an ongoing appreciation of contemporary art and craft led Karen to transfer her design skills to making. ​​Having recently completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, her practice focuses predominantly on ceramics. Natural properties are fundamental to her pieces, and she allows the materials to display their inner beauty without distraction.

Drawing inspiration often from familial stories, her work enables her to examine both emotional and physical connections. Self-admittedly, she avoids bright colours, instead forming a lasting relationship with the colour white. This has become fundamental to much of her work and has resonated with her throughout her studies and practice.
